Pregnancy Loss Awareness Month: Celebs Who’ve Bravely Opened Up About Their Miscarriages

October is Child Loss Awareness Month.

With the aim to open the conversation and shed light on the families who’ve suffered their unspeakable losses, these celebrities bravely spoke up about their experience of losing a child.

Though they are just one of the many women who’ve gone through this process of grief, their tales remind us that healing is not a linear activity, and it’s up to them how they choose to rise above with the help of family.

Alex Gonzaga-Morada

The actress/vlogger took to a heartfelt Instagram post to share that she had an

anembryonic pregnancy after finding out she was pregnant in August.

Sharing photos from her hospital visits with her husband Mikee Morada, the star said that: “Our doctor advised us to wait for the process to naturally take its course. So we had to wait for a while for the pregnancy to finally end before we can tell our story.”

“The waiting and praying tested our faith and there were a lot of crying.”

They continued to wait for good news up until October 12 when they “closed the book” of their first pregnancy after waiting for months.

“We share our story to give hope that in the midst of this pain and loss the Lord will always sustain you. To any couple who’s going through this or who might go through this pain, don’t ever lose hope. It’s not your fault this happened. At your own pace, you can start to grieve and heal.”

The longtime couple got married back in 2020 and had been open about having children in the future.

Heart Evangelista

Heart Evangelista and husband Chiz Escudero went through “the worst day of their lives” when they lost their twin babies in 2018.

Heart first shared her pregnancy in May of that year, but shortly shared the devastating news the following month: “Having a miscarriage is the most traumatizing feeling. I carried my twins 4 months after because my doctor wanted me to naturally go through the process. It was the most horrible feeling thinking maybe God can bring them back to me … or me thinking am I not a good person for this to happen.”

Up to this day, Heart is still fighting back shamers who choose to pressure her to try to have children again after the ordeal.

“I’m not mad just furious how people think na need mo magkaanak para maging masaya,” she shared on Twitter this September. “I am already a happy person and grateful tama na ang pressure . Inspire each other nalang tayo.”

Saab Magalona

Proving that she’s truly a supermom, Saab Magalona has been transparent about her journey in raising her firstborn with special needs: Pancho Bacarro, who lost his twin sister during childbirth. The couple has since set up the Luna Isabel Magalona-Bacarro Memorial Fund for their late daughter.

Grief is truly not a linear process, as Saab still regularly remembers Luna on social media. In a post last February, she recalled seeing a rainbow that reminded her of her little girl “waving” at their family.
