Do you know how they auction art off at a fancy gallery or an antique house? You’ll be able to buy tangible pieces from Ernest Concepcion, Ronald Ventura, Patricia Perez Eustaquio, and the like in one sitting. The art work goes to the highest bidder and the rest is history. Well, that’s not necessarily the case for Heart Evangelista’s newest masterpiece. Just like how everything has gone digital these days, the act of auctioning over art has followed suit. The actress, artist, and influencer is now offering NFTs for bidding through cryptocurrency. Didn’t understand that statement? We’re here to run you through it.
What is an NFT?
NFT stands for non-fungible token. Essentially, they are bits of digital space that is unique and irreplaceable. Just like how if you buy an original painting by Monet, you’ll be the only one who owns that painting. There could be fake copies, but the real one is yours and yours alone.
Don’t be mistaken. NFTs are not exclusive to art pieces. They could be anything digital. That means you can buy a one-off song, video, card, virtual clothing, or any other digital thing you can think of. Beeple even auctioned off virtual art at Christie’s for $69 million dollars. That’s $15 million more than a Monet painting.
How did Heart Evangelista create an NFT?
So, how did Heart Evangelista get into NFTs you may ask? Is she secretly a huge cryptocurrency user? No, not necessarily. You don’t have to be trading crypto to create NFTs. Heart partnered up with Luis Buenaventura (Cryptopop) and Rodel Colmenar, composer of the Manila Philharmonic, for her first NFT.
They are currently putting up two pieces for auction on OpenSea. Heart’s first NFTs are titled, Pluviam and Desiderantium. You can see and experience the pieces on her Instagram, but you can officially own it through OpenSea.
How do you buy NFTs?
There are a number of ways to buy NFTs. The biggest misconception is that you must have BitCoin or any other cryptocurrency to purchase. That’s definitely not the case. You can pay through US dollars, ethereaum, or other virtual coins. Check out OpenSea here, so you can purchase from #CryptoHeart.
