Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse gives us a look into the future. Find out what challenging tech concept would mean for all Facebook users.

Remember Ready Player One? It’s the Stephen Spielberg movie that is based on a novel by Ernest Cline. It stars Tye Sheridan who plays a teenager in a dystopian future. The movie is all about how the teenager, Wade, navigates through an online world looking for the keys to the fortune of OASIS, a virtual universe made by a tech genius.

Apparently, Mark Zuckerberg must have watched this movie, because he’s planning on making a similar concept to OASIS. Okay, it won’t be an exact replica. Although, we can say it may be something similar. In his published Founder’s Letter he writes, “The next platform will be even more immersive — an embodied internet where you’re in the experience, not just looking at it. We call this the metaverse, and it will touch every product we build.” So, it’s not completely different from Marvel’s Multiverse. It’s basically a virtual reality we can interact with made by the Facebook team. If Marvel’s universe lives in the movies, then Facebook’s multiverse lives online and we are the characters.

Sound far fetched? We don’t think so. With the rise of virtual clothing, immersive role playing games, and online personas, who’s to say a metaverse isn’t bound to happen? Facebook has already acquired the biggest online platforms, such as: Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus VR, com, LiveRail, Threadsy, and more. Plus, it’s no secret that Facebook and Google have been on an AI race, which would be extremely beneficial to an online ecosystem.

All these online innovations might sound a bit confusing. We’re going to be honest. It is. Although you shouldn’t worry because Mark Zuckerberg assures all the users that it won’t be a swift change. “We have built things that have brought people together in new ways. We’ve learned from struggling with difficult social issues and living under closed platforms. Now it is time to take everything we’ve learned and help build the next chapter,” says the Facebook founder.

If you’re still having a hard time visualizing the metaverse, then you can watch the films: Ready Player One, Free Guy, and maybe even Wreck It Ralph. We’re sure you’ll be able to pick-up your own understanding of the new virtual world we’ll be living in the future.
