After a lull in local restaurant openings due to the pandemic, the loosening of lockdown restrictions is allowing us to look forward to treating our tastebuds once again–with proper social distancing and precautions, of course.
Across the city are buzzy new eateries but one stands out as you pass through Forbes Town in BGC. With gold-panel windows and all-white and cream walls that beautifully reflect under the sun, Pizzulu offers brick oven pizzas and signature cocktails with a touch of chicness. Wondering why the name might be familiar? It’s because before the restaurant even opened, Pizzulu already gained a following when they were only available through delivery.
The pizza gained a huge following online–influencers and celebrities alike also raved about it and so it was only proper for the brand to expand due to the high demand. “We started in a 20sqm commissary, and we had to move to a 600 sqm pizza factory after three months. It was quite challenging at first as the demand was growing and we had to perfect the pizzas and bake them live as the orders come. This was the biggest challenge we encountered, making sure pizzas were delivered on time to a multitude of hungry customers who are also in lockdown,” says Karla Zulueta, Co-Founder of Pizzulu.
They have an extensive pizza menu that captures an authentic Italian taste. The cheeses are from Europe, and their dough that’s made in-house, delivers the perfect bite of crust. Best-sellers include the Black Truffle Mushroom Pizza and their Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza that’s freshly baked. Their premium pastas, like the savory but fresh Squid Ink Spaghetti w/ Seafood Pasta will—quite literally—have you thinking about it for days to come. Don’t also sleep on the served side of chili oil and drizzle it on any order for that extra kick!
To partner it all off are their refreshing cocktails that are specifically curated with a Singaporean mixologist. The Sangrila Classica is a blend of Don Papa 7, red wine, and lemon juice for a fruity yet spicy taste. And the creamy and tropical La Coco Piña that tastes as good as sipping it on the beach.
Aside from the pizza and drinks, people also visit Pizzulu for the vibe: the marble tables, dome-shaped walls, and curved interior that are currently dominating the design world and making it on everyone’s social media feeds.
Who is behind this chic restaurant? None other than the Zulueta sisters namely Karla, Kim, Kat, and Kamille who are fashionable as they are business-minded.
“People love to dress up and take photos inside, its very chic and timeless. We had so much fun with the creative design process and this has always been our dream,” Karla shares proudly. “We want our loyal customers to finally have a feel and experience of the brand. We wanted Pizzulu to be a cool pizza place, a brand that can pop out of a busy BGC, where pizza lovers can come and take photos, hang out and enjoy not just our pizzas but pastas and signature cocktails.”
Pizzulu is located at G/F Eight Forbes Town Road, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. To know more, head to their official website.
