As we go over last night’s event once again, we listed down the top trends we spotted throughout the collection.

The Modern Bride

The show started and ended with graceful bridal pieces that have distinct tones to it. Puey was able to add variety through the sleek silhouette layered with the capelet and the wrap-around details in various shades of white for the modern bride.

Feminine Frills

The collection had a series of designs anchored with timeless forms made with tulle and balanced with cover-ups for a romantic feel.

Fluid constructions

Compared to the other designs, Puey Quiñones was able to display his take on contemporary fashion translated with his use of textile and construction. It is a meticulous construction yet executed gracefully, as seen on the pinned drapings around the design, and was elevated with the shine of the fabric—creating a motion-like finish. His line of pieces in this design had an almost futuristic look but with an earthy feel.

Reinterpreted barongs

Known for his traditional and modern take on the national costume, the designer was able to transform the piece with such drama. He kept the signature finish at the center of the barong, but elevated it by incorporating an oversized silhouette that had pleated detailings cascading down the sleeves and the torso.

Distinct compositions

It’s an iteration of the motion-like pieces he made, but done in neutral tones and classic forms. This particular design features a more technical construction to capture the movement of each draping, but mindful enough to not let the silhouette be taken away from the design. Since the construction is already quite the statement, it was a smart move to have it finished in neutral hues.

Finished in pleats

Puey showcases his expertise in complex draping since this design features such technicality in construction. It’s an experimental silhouette showcasing sculptural details molded with a meticulous technique. The result is a perfect juxtaposition—one which the designer is well-known for.
