Whether you’re going through the teen phase or surviving adulthood, watching XO, Kitty will serve you the joys and pains of growing up
Goodbye for now, Lara Jean. There’s a new Song-Covey sister in town and her name’s Kitty! After the successful trilogy, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, series creator Jenny Han brings the youngest of the Song-Covey sisters to life with the newest show called XO, Kitty. The 10-episode spin-off is all about Kitty and how she’s making sense of her mother’s past, as well as her future—her adventures in life and love definitely included!

Chances are if you’ve watched Lara Jean’s journey to love in the books and in the films, you’ll know Kitty as the youngest sister who’s feisty, fierce, and opinionated. Unlike Margot and Lara Jean, Kitty did not have much to remember about their late mother. This pushes her to apply to KISS, or the Korean Independent School of Seoul, where their own mom spent a good year in the school, too. With that and her pen-pal lover Dae waiting for her on the other side of the world, Kitty has all the reasons to go–and she does.
Before we get too ahead of ourselves with telling Kitty’s story, why not watch it for yourself? If you’re in need for some more nudging and convincing, here’s why you need to see XO, Kitty to ease your way into growing up or into remembering your own adventures:
It’s a sign to go for your dreams
Having the opportunity to go for your goals with no hesitation is a privilege, and if you do, then make the most of it! In the story, Kitty plans her ways to enter KISS with a well-curated presentation, making it easier for her dad to say yes to her decision. You never know if a chance only knocks once, so better answer the door for yourself!
Kitty’s support system is goals
From her family to her friends, Kitty got lucky with the core she has surrounded herself with. Their father, an OB-GYN, was not just open about talking about sex, but also with his daughters’ feelings. He was ready to show Kitty his support even with their distance through a video call. When it comes to her new friends in KISS, they all managed to look past their differences and support each other. From reviewing for exams to serving as each other’s wingman, Kitty and her new clique had each other’s backs.
The growing pains are so real
Embarrassing moments in front of a new crowd? Falling in love with someone you’re not supposed to? Dealing with family problems? Missing the comfort of home? Discovering your parents’ secret? XO, Kitty tackles all of that and more! Kitty and her friends deal with these new experiences with much innocence, and these raw moments make us wish that we can be with them for a hug or advice.
Feelings are going wild
There’s a valid reason why elders advice teens to be careful of their decisions, and XO, Kitty addresses that, too. Whether it’s the hormones or the exciting thought of experiencing new things, you might just relate to how impulsive characters are. Let’s face it, though. Who doesn’t enjoy a little drama in their life, especially when the matters of the heart are involved?
