Renowned content creator Erwan Heussaff received a highly coveted award at the 2023 James Beard Awards, a distinguished ceremony that celebrates exceptional culinary achievements. Erwan took to Instagram to share his latest achievement with his followers. In a post that exudes excitement, he proudly displayed a picture of himself holding the James Beard Medal. His caption reflected his joy, stating, “I’m still shaking. We did it!”

Adding a personal touch to his attire, Erwan wore a Randolf Clothing barong adorned with embroidered calamansi fruits and sun rays, which brought back memories of a documentary project he had previously worked on with his media team. The barong was also adorned with delicate dahlia flowers as a tribute to his daughter.
Erwan has won the top spot in the Social Media Account category of the Broadcast Media Awards, beating out strong contenders such as Nom Life’s Andrew Huang, Ewa Huang, and Jeromy Ko, as well as Kalamatas Kitchen.
Erwan delivered an enthusiastic speech, expressing his immense joy at receiving the recognition. With a sense of awe, he uttered, “This is incredible. Thank you so much.” He then gave his congratulations to the other nominees and shared that he had flown more than 20 hours from the Philippines just for the event, which made it all worth it.
The Fat Kid Inside also thanked everyone who had helped him out at TFKI Studios and FEATR Media, and expressed gratitude to his family for encouraging him to pursue his passion for adventure travel and compelling narrative. He shared his ambition to make Filipino cuisine the “next big thing,” and the award gives him even more reason to reach that goal.
“Anywhere you’ll go, you’ll meet Filipinos, especially in the Food and Beverage industry. In fact, one of our largest revenue streams is from a country with a lot of Filipinos working overseas. Yet not a lot is known about our culture, or our food. Tons of people have said Filipino food is the ‘next big thing,’ and I’m obsessed with trying to make it the next big thing.”
Erwan has been making food videos and posting them on social media and YouTube for a long time under the name Fat Kid Inside. In 2021, he underwent a rebranding of his YouTube channel to “FEATR” to expand his reach to a wider audience of content creators.
On June 5, a distinct awards ceremony will take place to honor the restaurant and chef categories, where three culinary experts from the Philippines are in the running for medals.
The James Beard Awards started in 1990 to honor top leaders in the food industry. It is named after James Beard, a famous food writer and teacher known as the “Dean of American Cookery.” The awards cover various categories like books, TV shows, journalism, leadership, and restaurants and chefs.
