Basketball player Ricci Rivero is currently the talk of the town after fans and netizens alike spotted his interactions with beauty queen-politician Leren Bautista. Until last night, Rivero was known to be the boyfriend of actress Andrea Brillantes.

Ricci calling shots
Last May 26, Leren greeted Ricci on his birthday and thanked the player for spending his birthday in Laguna. “We appreciate your love and generosity to give back to our people,” she wrote. Rumors on the two escalated last night when the athlete reposted an Instagram story of Leren about him. Since being called out, both sides have deleted their respective posts and Ricci also unliked one picture of hers.
With fans accusing the two of having an affair, Ricci went on Twitter to address the issue. “I own up to the mistake of not making my relationship status public because I felt there’s no need to add up to what [we’re] going through. Please respect our decision to keep it to ourselves so that we can preserve [what’s] left of our friendship. I hope [everyone can] stop creating your own versions and dragging other characters into these false accusations. I am sorry for whatever [disappointments this] may have caused you. [For] everyone’s peace of mind, please allow ourselves to heal and move on peacefully without hate and pain,” he wrote.
Andrea’s side
Adding fuel to the fire, fellow celebrity and Andrea’s good friend Awra Briguela sent a series of tweets, seemingly replying to Ricci’s statement. In one tweet, she mentioned “gaslighter,” “manipulative,” and “cheater.”
As of writing, Andrea has yet to address the breakup personally. The two started dating in April 2022, with Ricci asking the hand of Andrea after his basketball game. The two even graced last year’s MEGA Ball together.
Currently, the actress is booked and busy with her new show, Drag You & Me, along with her other projects lined up for the next months to come, such as Senior High.
