From the ever-popular hair ribbons to the early-naughts-approved thick headband, these hair accessories are back and better than ever
It appears that hair accessories have finally inched their way into the beauty world’s consciousness. Take a page from the recently concluded spring/summer 2023 fashion week where ribbons reigned free in many different forms. First came Sandy Liang, where bows made it so quickly from the runway to the front row. At Molly Godard, on the other hand, the proverbial sleek headbands became the hallmark of its showcase’s beauty looks.

Runway talks aside, hair accessories have become more and more associated with A-list celebrities. Sarah Jessica Parker, for example, flaunted a gothic twist on the ever-popular ballercore with a tulle dress and a black bow. A similar motif was seen in Anne Curtis, who adorned her hair with tiny, precise pink ribbons. That is to say, the renaissance of hair accessories is now in full force.
Oh, the dainty hair ribbons
Coquettish bows, full-on tied-up knots, and balletcore satin ribbons—the trend is certainly open for interpretation. Heralded as the official hair accessory of fashion month, bows were noticeably ubiquitous in shows like Collin Strada, Christian Siriano, and Simone Rocha. Hailey Bieber also did something similar with her take on tiny, pink bows. Moreover, the beauty of hair ribbons is there are no rules—one thing that can be worn on your own terms or length.
Chic clips, anyone?
Hair trends come and go, but chic clips? It’s one nostalgic accessory that can certainly stand the test of time. Taking on many shapes over the years, the beauty department has seen Heart Evangelista’s luxurious entry with her Prada Plexiglass Hair Clip, and Gigi Hadid’s Versace Medusa Hair Clip that placed designer accessories back on the map. Meanwhile, a slew of models like Kaia Gerber, Kendall Jenner, and Emily Ratajkowski recently gave claw clips their seal of approval.
The wide headband effect
Cementing its cult hair accessory status, wide headbands continue to be a perennial favorite among stars. Think Bella Hadid, Nicola Peltz-Beckham, or Patricia Henson, who all appear to be in favor of the early-naughts favorite. Whether you’re trying to hide your fringe or someone who just loves the look, wide headbands give the illusion of being polished, one thing that you can rely on, especially on lazy hair days.
