Youtube/TikTok sensation Niana Guerrero has turned eighteen—an age that conveys change. And how do you dress for a life that’s changed? For her, it’s taking a sartorial risk—amongst her usual mix of streetwear pieces and casual-baggy hallmark, she’s found room for a softer, more glamorous look. In this exclusive interview, Niana talks to MEGAStyle about dressing this newer and older version of herself.

The Shift in Style

At only twelve, Niana has conquered the world of social media together with her brother, Ranz Kyle. Since then, she’s made a name for herself and has become a Philippine social media darling. Now, she’s older and braver in her choices, and has managed to maintain her status as a dancing prodigy. She’s the Filipino with the largest TikTok following, with 43.3 million as of writing, so it’s only right her meteoric rise comes with embracing a new era of fashion for herself in contrast to the baggy shirts that characterized her fashion at the start of her promising career.

Niana is taking on a more feminine, Y2K-coded, and grunge-glam look

“Turning eighteen felt like the perfect time to explore something new and exciting,” Niana begins. “I’ve been wearing lots of oversized shirts and big pants, which I love and will always be a part of me, but I do want to try something new. Flirting with this era of fashion feels like a fresh start and a way to express my growth and creativity.”

She definitely has the platform for it. As a viral internet sensation at a young age, Niana has had to go through the motions of adolescence in front of the camera. Now, she’s taking fashion as a vital sign to take the reins in her new style and fashion direction: the rare combination of flattering, feminine, and flirty with a fun, hip vibe. Metallics, fur, glittered denim, futuristic accessories, and a hint of pop-star glam round out the look, making her style a chaotic yet complementing blend of past and future. “I’ve always been drawn to the fun and vibe of Y2K fashion!” Niana adds—and she’s pulling it off effortlessly.

Now unafraid of taking sartorial risks, the Gen Z star also slips on materials and fabrics with structural silhouettes and more shape

The dancing prodigy is ready to dress with an unmatched commitment to play—now that she’s unafraid of color, material, and complex layering. “The most exciting part about this fashion shift is definitely the freedom to experiment with different looks and be more creative! It’s a chance to reinvent myself and show new sides of my personality.”

From Child Star to Street Style Poster Child

The digital realm opened new avenues for expression and identity in the fashion landscape. At the forefront of this transformation is Gen Z, a cohort that uses style as an opportunity to present their unique personalities to the world. For Niana, progressing away from her ‘child star’ image made her think about how style is the perfect bolster to present more facets of her identity as she navigates show business. “Experimenting with style is an extension of how I express myself,” she continues to tell MEGAStyle. “Now that I go out more, attending events and participating in shoots, I’m given more ‘dress-up’ moments. The timing is perfect—trying different looks for work came at an opportunity when I also wanted to explore different ways of expressing myself.”

For her newfound fashion knack, Niana definitely has some more sartorial home-runs up her sleeve

Being the most followed Filipina on TikTok, Niana has worked with big and global names such as Sabrina Carpenter, Tate Mcrae, and Meghan Trainor. As a young Gen Z star, Niana stresses how grateful she is to have connections with artists she looks up to: “Working with them has been such an incredible experience. They’ve all been really supportive and inspiring, and getting to hang out with them and make fun videos is definitely a dream come true.”

During those years of her career, oversized and baggy materials have dominated Niana’s fashion conversation. Now, she’s ready to dress up—as we expect to see injected more into her craft and future projects. “This fashion shift will definitely be seen in everything I do from now on,” she reveals to MEGAStyle. “It’s a part of who I am now and I’m excited to incorporate it into my work. You’ll see it in my performances, my social media, and the new projects I’ll be taking on. This shift is about showing the world this new side of me, and how my style and creativity are evolving. Expect more bold and creative moves from me as I continue to grow and explore new opportunities.”

Dancing to the Rhythm of Her Fashion

As Niana aims to move to the new rise and rhythm of her fashion, she’s growing her platform as well—making more creative content and embracing new opportunities—all the while staying grounded and keeping true to herself. To her fans, she says, “As my platform grows, I want to keep my connection with them genuine and even stronger. I try to be as authentic as possible in sharing my journey and experiences with them; I hope to continue to inspire and show them that it’s great to try new things and still be yourself.”
