These stars prove that even celebrity friendships make them shine brighter
Navigating the Philippine entertainment scene can be intense and lonely, but with many big-time events filling these celebrities’ calendars and opportunities to rub shoulders with each other, it’s no surprise when they form friendships. These Gen Z stars, in particular, have found kindred spirits in their showbiz circles.

Joshua Garcia and Donny Pangilinan
While they have yet to work with each other in a project, Joshua Garcia and Donny Pangilinan have already found similar footing outside of work. Just recently, the former shared snaps from his late-night hangout with his showbiz friends, including Donny and next co-star Anne Curtis.
The two also met fans at a Jollibee event just this February and were spotted together during Robi Domingo and Maiqui Pineda’s wedding reception last January. Just a few days ago, the two heartthrobs shared the stage with their respective on-screen partners, alongside Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, and other Kapamilya leading men at the ASAP Natin ‘To show in California.
Andrea Brillantes and Kyle Echarri
Aside from their fervent passion for the cameras, it’s no secret that actors Kyle Echarri and Andrea Brillantes have transitioned from co-workers to best friends (and might there be something more?). They’ve parlayed their friendship into supporting one’s business venture as well, where Kyle recently starred in Andrea’s campaign for Lucky Beauty’s Lucky Potions.
As seen in their previous vlogs, the pair had a strong bond prior to Senior High as childhood best friends. During the pandemic, they worked together on Huwag Kang Mangamba. They were also a part of the Gold Squad with Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin during their Kadenang Ginto days.
Kyle Echarri and Elijah Canlas
Senior High has proven to be an environment where unexpected friendships are forged. Aside from the actress Kyle has also bonded with Elijah Canlas over similar interests and hobbies outside of work, like music. Both heartthrobs are in the process of finding their own sounds, with Kyle’s work with Juan Karlos and Elijah’s first solo EP coming out in a few months.
The two are also shining in their own respective shoots with MEGA. Kyle fronted MEGA’s pages last July, and Elijah recently took over the MEGA website with a daring shoot.
AC Bonifacio and Darren Espanto
In the celebrity ecosystem, rare and true connections are hard to come by. AC Bonifacio and Darren Espanto found theirs back in 2015 after bonding over shared roots and their careers in the entertainment industry. While the multi-talented duo have shared the stage and the screen multiple times—whether that be singing, dancing, or acting—off-screen, their friendship is as strong as ever. The two went to Universal Studios Hollywood last year, and just this May, AC penned a heartfelt birthday greeting to her “bestie”: “We’ve gone through so much as best friends and as individuals, and I just want to say thank you for sticking with me. Thank you for staying by my side. You have been such a big impact on my life, I genuinely would not know how my life would be without you.” In an industry that keeps shipping male and female stars, it’s indeed refreshing to see a wholesome platonic connection like AC’s and Darren’s.
Belle Mariano and Kyline Alcantara
Gen Z leading ladies Belle Mariano and Kyline Alcantara are carving their own successful careers in entertainment, but the two go way back as childhood friends. Though they have never worked together, Belle and Kyline’s friendship is admirable; MEGA’s August cover star Kyline publicly stated that they bonded growing up in this industry, which included the experience of being bullied. “Until now pa naman grabe ‘yung suporta namin sa isa’t isa. Grabe ‘yung bond, grabe ‘yung friendship. Hindi siya masasabi na showbiz friendship. Hindi talaga.” The two reunited at Belle’s 21st birthday party last year with fellow actress and friend Andrea Brillantes as well. Kyline also shared that she would love to be reunited in a project with the two.
