Inspired by tales and traditions of the Swiss wilds, BALLY’s Fall/Winter 2024 “Der Wanderer” collection translates a rich culture’s mystique into contemporary wear
Beyond crystal clear lakes and misty alps lies a world of wonder. In Switzerland, there’s magic in the wild. It’s channeled through a culture of dynamic folk tales and potent mysticism. It is a well of endless inspiration, that anyone can create something marvelous with.
BALLY’s Fall/Winter 2024 Collection beautifully infuses that tradition across all of its pieces. Creative Director Simone Bellotti revealed it within the patrician halls of the 17th-century Palazzo Serbelloni in the center of Milan. DJ LEO MAS crafted a new crescendo of Balearic sound to take guests on a polyphonic wandering through Swiss folklore.
Heritage shapes, patterns, and palettes provide the lineup’s foundation. Rich materials put through a rigorous and sharp craftsmanship process has created something entirely enigmatic.
The Details of “Der Wanderer”
Silhouettes take a direct nod from siren’s tails and treicheln bells in flared forms that hug the body. Colors mesh, often in Swiss Red, with texture to create a rustic and timeless feeling. Rich materials make up each and every piece. Shearling, mohair, smooth wool, draped satin are just the tip of the iceberg with what’s made here.
Jackets, coats, crisp cotton shirts, and boatneck sweaters swing comfortably from the shoulders and are cut with curved hems or bloom with wild sleeves. Swiss dressing exists in this contemporary sense as it did in its development over history.
Appenzeller charms dot various bottoms to accentuate all that deep color. Inclusive of this too are the various footwear styles including the ‘Glendale’ Mary-Jane and snub-toe ‘Plume’ deck shoe.
The bags leave just as much of a strong impression. Buckled satchels, briefcases, and zippered carry-alls are worn in monochrome calfskin with gilt or silvered hardware. A slouchy shoulder bag is created with the leather sole of a BALLY shoe.
A Vivid Tapestry
Each piece in “Der Wanderer” is worth a thousand stories of Swiss folklore. Wearing any of them means embodying the spirit of a rich cultural heritage, and transposing it into the modern world.
Simone Bellotti and BALLY craft timelessness with warm alpine jacquard knits and waxy leathers in their Fall/Winter 2024 Collection. In infusing the Swiss identity into their line of clothes, they perfectly harmonize tradition with modernity—a wonderful reimagining of old stories into new art.
