A is for Alden Richards
He has cemented himself as one of the biggest and shining actors of 2024. Alden’s performances in Pulang Araw and Hello, Love, Again were nothing short of outstanding, even so far as moving his audience to tears. This year, the Kapuso star has been nominated and awarded various awards for his acting prowess, and we are sure to see more next year.
B is for BINI
To say this wasn’t BINI’s year would be lying. Ever since the “Pantropiko” fever, the P-Pop girl group has been releasing hit song after hit song and boomed with back-to-back features, endorsements, and even sold-out BINIverse concerts. You can count on their passionate Blooms to support them, whether it’s a TikTok challenge, their outrageous and memorable outfits, or their new hairstyle.
C is for Comebacks
This year, we saw pairings working together again in various projects. Aside from Kathryn and Alden’s comeback for Hello, Love, Again, powerhouse duo Jericho Rosales and Jodi Sta. Maria proved their undeniable chemistry in Lavender Fields, 24 years after their original series Pangako Sa’yo. And who said that exes can’t work together again? Actors Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto in Un/Happy For You proved that so long as they are professional, past lovers could work with each other again.
D is for Denise Julia
Despite the recent controversies surrounding her and her team, the R&B artist and dubbed by netizens “patron saint of situationships” had a successful year. A few months ago, an unexpected collaboration between Julia and Belle Mariano was done at Belle’s BELIEVE! concert, where they performed the R&B artist’s B.A.D. Aside from this, Denise Julia released several hit singles this year, and even her second mini album Sweet Nothings: Chapter 2, which then led to her first ever solo concert.
E is for Expecially For You
It’s Showtime‘s segment “Expecially For You” gave us the kilig this year! While it became a lighthearted opportunity for people to find love, it was also a relatable segment for many as the searchees shared similar relationship stories, gave valuable life lessons, and opened up conversations that many were afraid to even touch on. It became more than a dating segment that fostered to maintain good relationships not just between loved ones but with themselves also.
F is for Friendships
One of the best things to come out this year were strong friendships, whether old, renewed, or pieced back together. With just a photo, Kathryn Bernardo and Nadine Lustre broke the internet, a friendship everyone loved and would look forward to if the two would star in a film. Kapamilya trio Kim Chiu, Angelica Panganiban, and Bela Padilla’s solid friendship rose from an unexpected party, and now goes beyond their work as actresses.
G is for Gen Z Stars on the Rise
Every year, new artists were welcomed into the entertainment industry. Rising Sparkle teens and besties Marco Masa and Ashley Sarmiento have been steadily getting used to the limelight, and it only goes up here. The It’s Showtime Kids haven’t failed in entertaining the audience also, always bringing joy and laughter to their segments. We won’t be surprised for when they land a project soon.
H is for Hello, Love, Again
Highly-anticipated sequel Hello, Love, Again was this year’s biggest, if not most successful film. Kathryn and Alden once again gave stellar, memorable, and simply jaw-dropping performances in the film, which led to its status as the highest grossing Filipino film of all time with the film being released in over 1000 local and international cinemas.
I is for International Recognition for Filipino Talent
Every year, Filipino talent is slowly being recognized in the international stage. Bubblegum pop girl group BINI was the first Filipino act to perform at the KCON music festival and to win MTV Europe Music Award’s “Best Asia Act.” As for the SB-19, Kings of P-Pop, they have received accolades such as the Voices of Asia Award and Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award’s Favorite Asian Act. Actress and television host Kim Chiu also won the Outstanding Asian Star award from Seoul International Drama Awards. Thanks to Hello, Love, Again, Kathryn Bernardo also received the Snow Leopard Rising Star Award at the Asia World Film Festival in Los Angeles.
J is for Janine Gutierrez
To say that the award-winning Kapamilya star has had a great year is an understatement. Earlier this year, she also graced the red carpets of both Venice Film Festival and Tokyo International Film Festival for her film Phantosmia. She also starred in television show Lavender Fields, which became one of the biggest shows in the Philippines today. Aside from her professional career, her personal life also seem to be thriving with another J—Jericho Rosales.
K is for Kim Chiu
Aside from being named Outstanding Asian Star at the Seoul International Drama Awards, the Kapamilya artist has proved that she is also successful beyond her showbiz career. After her bag business became a hit online, Kim Chiu has also recently opened a physical showroom for House of Little Bunny.
L is for Leaked Messages

M is for Marian Rivera
The Kapuso artist had an exceptional year. Aside from her television comeback with My Guardian Alien, she also had a successful Cinemalaya debut with Balota where she was awarded Best Actress. Aside her successful year in the entertainment industry, she also doesn’t fail to be a TikTok entertainer! This year, she was also known to be an avid Pop Mart collector with a room dedicated to her favorite figures such as The Monsters or Labubus, Molly, Skull Panda, and more.
N is for Niana Guerrero
One of this generation’s most talented dancers and the Philippines’ most followed TikTok star, Niana Guerrero had just turned 18 this year, which marked her growth into womanhood, even becoming a MEGA cover girl herself. From various viral original choreographies and collaborating with big names such as global girl group KATSEYE and Tate McRae to even battling on the Red Bull stage with other competitive dancers. Guerrero’s growth is undeniable this year, and we can’t wait for more.
O is for Olivia Rodrigo
Proud Filipina-American pop star visited her home country for the first time this year in her GUTS Tour, and not only was this her first sold out concert, it was also her largest venue and biggest crowd to date with 55,000 attendees. All the proceeds of Rodrigo’s concert were donated to a nonprofit organization that aimed to provide accessible and quality healthcare to young girls and women.
P is for Pulang Araw
The television show has made its round with its powerful portrayal of history about Filipinos, set during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. Broadcast in GMA, it was also released in Netflix and starred Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, Alden Richards, and Dennis Trillo. It’s definitely a series worth watching if you’re looking for something interesting and inspiring.
Q is for Queens Making a Difference
Despite the end of their reign as former Miss Universe queens, Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach stayed true to their word. Gray’s Legacy Ball aimed to raise funds for quality and accessible education for the youth by auctioning some of Miss Universe 2018’s gowns, while Wurtzbach’s Love Gala auctioned her Miss Universe memorabilia, dedicating the money earned from these towards a Youth Center that will provide HIV/AIDS support, reproductive healthcare, and more.
R is for Rico Yan Legacy
Rico Yan was not just a celebrated actor, but a phenomenon that will remember his legacy. From entertaining TikTok edits to reminiscing his talent, many remembered his brief yet memorable career that left a mark on many people.

S is for Sofia Smith
The Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11 big winner has great influence among her generation. From being a big influencer, she is one of the most talked about personalities today, and with the intention of entering the showbiz industry to pursue her dream and passion for acting, Sofia “Fyang” Smith will continue to be the Gen Z girl everyone will talk about.
T is for Television to Theater Performances
Some artists have ventured into theater this year, cementing themselves as talented and versatile actors. Sue Ramirez took a chance and sang live for the musical Little Shop of Horrors. BINI Jhoanna and BGYO Akira also dedicated themselves to the musical Tabing Ilog this year, much like last year. It’s great to see fresh faces venturing out of their comfort zones, especially in theater!
U is for Universe in the Philippines
Many Filipinos graced the stage of Miss Universe this year. Aside from Chelsea Manalo bagging both the Miss Universe Asia crown and the Best in National Costume award for her intricate “Hiraya” ensemble, we also saw New Zealand’s Victoria Velasquez Vincent, Great Britain’s Christina Dela Cruz Chalk, and Bahrain’s Shereen Ahmed. Of course, we also recognize the Filipino designers who have shown Filipino craftsmanship on the international stage such as Manny Halasan, Axel Que, Ehrran Montoya, Harvey Cenit, and Rian Fernandez.
V is for Vice Ganda
Unkabogable as ever, Vice Ganda has always made her mark as It’s Showtime‘s host, but she did a surprising comeback to this year’s MMFF with dramedy film And The Breadwinner Is…, making this one of her first serious roles, which led to her Special Jury Citation award that recognized her groundbreaking performance and her efforts in going out of her comfort zone. We also can’t forget all the fashion statements the host and actress has made this year.
W is for Wicked
Much like the rest of the world, the Philippines was under a wicked spell with the release of Wicked. From coordinated outfits to the inevitable last song syndrome of its iconic songs, it’s not a surprise that Filipinos love the film, especially with the exceptional performance of both Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
X is for X-es
Unfortunately, 2024 was also the year of breakups. Sarah Lahbati confirmed the end of her and Richard Gutierrez’s marriage, as well as the marriage of Aiai delas Alas and Gerald Sibayan. Bea Alonzo and Dominique Roque mutually agreed to end their engagement. Catriona Gray and Sam Milby also revealed to have called off their engagement. Other breakups this year include Kyline Alcantara and Mavy Legaspi, Catriona Gray and Sam Milby, Maris Racal and Rico Blanco, Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones, and Sue Ramirez and Javi Benitez.
Y is for Yulo
Continuously making history as an amazing athlete, Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo earned two Olympic gold medals this year—a first in the Philippines. Aside from his talent and skills as a gymnast, he has also been enjoying the world of TikTok with his day in the life of a gymnast videos, teaching his girlfriend Chloe San Jose basic gymnastics skills, even joining the latest challenges and trend on his girlfriend’s TikTok account.
Z is for Zia Grace
Newest child actor Zia Grace has made rounds on social media over her stellar acting performance in Prime Video’s series Saving Grace. She’s a bubbly and charismatic ball of sunshine that’s dedicated to pursuing her dream of being an actor. With a child wonder like her, we get to watch her grow and excel in many more projects and years to come.
