Paris Fashion Week caps off the season after a successful month of shows in London, New York, and Milan. During this time of the year, we’re taking a look into the Fall-Winter collection of 2022. We’ve gone through the Spring-Summer trends last year and the Haute Couture collections during the latter part of January. Now, we’re at the last leg of fashion week before we wait a few months till the next set of shows.
There’s no denying that the fashion scene has been making noise since the start of the year. Everyone’s found a new style muse in Julia Fox, Off White released the last collection of the late Virgil Abloh, and the stars of Euphoria are the newest brand ambassadors of our favorite luxury brands. Who would’ve thought that the community could elevate the industry even more in the latest runway shows. Here are a few highlights to keep you updated on what went down during Fall-Winter 2022 Paris Fashion Week.
Loewe
Irish fashion designer and creative director, Jonathan Anderson turned to surrealism for the Fall-Winter collection of Loewe. He used materials such as latex, fur, leather, mesh, and rubber to create his 54-piece collection. He pushed the boundaries with over the top footwear and thought invoking apparel. Anderson took inspiration from feminism and art, given that it is woman’s month.
Valentino
Pierpaolo Piccioli was all about a focus on color, 2 dominant hues actually. The fashion designer created an 81- piece collection in only two colors: pink and black. Not only was the collection predominantly pink, but the set was pink as well. A-list celebrities and models celebrated Valentino in a completely pink room. Many were quick to notice that Piccioli took inspiration from Elsa Schiaparelli’s love for shocking pink. The Valentino team created their own meaning to the color by incorporating women’s month in the message.
Givenchy
Punk is officially back. With the help of newly appointed creative director, Matthew M. Williams, Givenchy was able to give us a 70- piece collection. There were tiered shirts, face piercings, and a plethora of black looks. Despite the punk aesthetic, Williams shared that the details of the looks are inspired by Givenchy’s heritage. The small studs were inspired by Hubert de Givenchy’s pearled dresses for actress, Audrey Hepburn.
Balenciaga
Demna pushed Balenciaga’s boundaries with orthodox looks that were inspired by religious institutions and clerical wear. We saw the continuation of punk as a popular motif of Fall-Winter 2022. Aside from this, we’ve noticed that Kim Kardashian’s show stopping fits have popped out in the collection. From the Pantaboots to the black velvet dresses popularized by Cristóbal Balenciaga, Demna knows how to elevate Balenciaga without having to jeopardize the rich history of the brand.
