This isn’t the first time that Sandara Park went viral on the Filipino social scene as she never fails to prove her immeasurable love to her second home country
Korean pop superstar Sandara Park is one of the rare gems who has kept her feet on the ground because she never forgets her roots in the entertainment industry. We first knew Sandara Park as one of Star Circle Quest’s 10 finalists alongside Hero Angeles, Roxanne Guinoo, Joross Gamboa, and many others. Many called her the Pambansang Krung Krung due to her unique charm and natural funny vibe. We also saw her in several Filipino movies where she was paired with Hero Angeles. Filipino fans then loved her and continued supporting her when she joined the Korean girl group, 2NE1.
Even though she is now known by many as Dara from 2NE1, it is no surprise that the K-Pop star still keeps her close connection to the Philippines. Last week, she visited the Philippines and spent a vacation in Bohol.
During Dara’s stay in the province, her fans worldwide saw how much she enjoyed her stay—from drinking pure buko juice straight from the coconut, dancing the Tinikling, to eating authentic Filipino food in a bahay kubo-designed restaurant.
Drinking the juice on a coconut fruit
Sipping coconut water directly from the fruit is a natural practice that Filipinos do, especially in the province. The Philippines is a well-known country for its natural resources, with coconut trees as one of our most treasured crops. That’s why during Sandara’s Bohol vacation, she never missed the chance to try drinking fresh coconut juice by putting a straw in a freshly opened fruit. On Dara’s Instagram account, fans enjoyed her simple gesture. They were fascinated that their idol transitioned from getting used to a cold climate to enjoying the humid weather in the Philippines.
Enjoying the famous Filipino beer
This year, Sandara trended on Twitter when she introduced a famous Filipino beer to her fellow K-Pop idol, BamBam. She even used a well-known Pinoy term, which means to drink a full glass of liquor in one go. During her short vacation in Bohol, Sandara again ordered the famous beer and posted a photo of herself on Instagram, enjoying her drink. She also loved authentic Filipino food like garlic rice, Halo-halo, Sinigang, Crispy pata, Pakbet, Sisig, and Inihaw, or roasted pork.
Eating a variety of dishes in one plate
At birthday parties, Filipinos are famous for serving various dishes, which is why most of us fit all the food on one plate. Sandara is still very much a Filipino at heart because she does the exact same thing in a native restaurant on the banks of the Robok River in Bohol. She mixed pancit, white rice, and different kinds of food on one plate as she shared on the ’gram that she was starving as soon as she arrived in the province.
Dancing Filipino folk dance
Moreover, Sandara shared a video of her impromptu dancing to the Philippine national dance Tinikling. The actress did an excellent job in her footwork routine, skipping through big bamboo poles. Despite her success in the world of K-Pop, which inevitably took her to many places around the world, her love for Filipino culture remains.
Buying pasalubongs
After the many activities that Sandara experienced in Bohol, she also shared that she visited a souvenir shop in the province. Her followers saw this gesture as a reflection of the star’s Filipino roots since typical Filipinos love to visit various souvenir shops during a vacation to purchase gifts or pasalubong for their loved ones.
