Eight years after her win, former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach shares the details of her journey to the crown in a vlog with Vicki Belo
Joining any competition is never an easy task. The truth is, the training period is longer than the winning moment. Be it in sports, pageantry, or life in general, time and experience are good teachers that will teach you the importance of persistence and passion. Evidently, these are two traits that made Pia Wurtzbach bring home the Miss Universe crown in 2015.

In a sit-down interview with Dr. Vicki Belo, the beauty queen shared more stories about her very own training period for the title. From her evening gown to the closed interview process, here are some things that they talked about in the vlog:
Did you know that Pia fought hard for her gown? Yes, you read that right! Her blue serpentine gown designed by Albert Andrada was actually a last minute addition to her wardrobe.
Knowing the tradition of donning the vintage gowns from then-director of Miss Universe Philippines Stella Marquez-Araneta, Pia wanted to give her own output and submitted a folder to plead her request of wearing something blue for the competition. This all happened because of a compliment she received from wearing a blue Albert Andrada at a charity event years ago.
Pia also mentioned that every part of the competition has bearing. From preliminaries to the final walk, ensuring a peak performance for every segment is a must to secure a sure win. Pia added that she enjoyed the presence of mind involved in the closed interviews process.
Lastly, the queen admitted that up until the final question and answer, she was not sure of her win. She only based the verdict based on the reactions of the audience.
