Bretman Rock Challenges Fashion’s Queerness With This TikTok Trend

Bretman Rock breaks the internet yet again with own take on Deo Cabrera’s Paru-Parong Bukid TikTok trend that highlights genderless fashion

This Pride month, Bretman Rock continues to transcend the boundaries of fashion and identity. In a recent TikTok video, Bretman rocked a tank top and denim skirt combo with much class and sass. He even finished it off with some chunky, white pumps from Crocs.

Bretman has always challenged and broken the boundaries of fashion, and he’s proving that anyone can rock any piece no matter where you fall in the spectrum. Two years ago, the singer-songwriter-actor-activist—the list goes on, really—wore the same animal printed Roberto Cavalli dress Aaliyah wore in 2000. 21 years later, Bretman added more femme fatale energy to the piece with some leather boots.

His skirt and pumps combination is no longer new to his style. Last April 2022, the content creator strolled the streets of New York with the same ensemble. He went for a bold print-on-print look with a floral Maison Alaïa top, paisley-printed Chopova Lowena skirt, and white House of HarryHalim booties.

Meanwhile, the Paru-Parong Bukid TikTok trend originated with Deo Cabrera, an online content creator-slash-student from De La Salle University. They are known on TikTok for also breaking the norms of fashion’s genders. How are they doing it? By donning pieces in the university that are often labeled under feminine style. From skirts to dresses, Deo’s style goes way beyond fashion binaries. Their TikTok account is a great source of fashion inspo if you are looking for fits for your next brunch date, night out, and even school look!
