The future looks even better and brighter for Sun Life’s newest brand ambassador, Donny Pangilinan, as he makes the most of the opportunities coming his way
Donny Pangilinan has come a long way and is here to stay. Having made a name for himself with every opportunity he worked hard for, Donny is ready to take the world by storm today and to many uncertain tomorrows.
With steadfast ambition, discipline, and drive, the young actor knows that life is never an easy journey, just as he’s also well aware that he is far from perfect. “The world of entertainment is so vast that I will never be as good as I want to be, like there’s always gonna be a version of me that wants to get better, to try new things, to do new projects, [and] to try new genres, you know,” he told MEGA Man.
When Donny gives the audience a disarming smile and imparts sweet messages, they intently listen. He can enter any room, and people naturally gravitate towards his presence. He has a particular way of moving and making things happen, so it’s no surprise that this man is also looking out for his future—a future that is bright, healthy, and secure.
Sun Life brings all these to the table and partners with this remarkable actor as their newest brand ambassador in their first-ever official event together last April 16 at Seda Hotel, BGC, Taguig.
Celebrating bright moments and quality time
You can’t spell Sunday without “sun”, so for Sun Life’s first in-person campaign launch with Donny as brand ambassador, they made Sunday brighter in an exclusive hotel event with his supportive fans. The event also highlighted the “Wheel of Life,” Sun Life’s newest health campaign aimed to inspire more Filipinos to pursue a healthy lifestyle and encourage them to protect their health with health insurance.
To start the day right, the invitees enjoyed an early buffet lunch in preparation for later activities. When the program began, the host welcomed the guests with fun and exciting games related to Donny–from a quiz on his favorite movie and food, to his fans sharing how he inspired them to live their best and brightest moments.
During the program, a video entitled “Date to Invest” showed Donny relating to everyone, wondering about learning more, opening up to brighter opportunities, and growing with the choices he’s made so far. With goals in mind, proper planning must start somewhere, big or small. After the video, Donny came on stage with a grin and was grateful to be joined by his supporters.
“I’m just so happy to be here with my new family, Sun Life,” the actor started. “This is something that I didn’t really expect to happen. Meron akong feeling of safety na alam ko ‘yung future ko is in good hands.”
The influential and inspiring man
As part of their mission to help Filipinos live healthier lives, Sun Life has always supported various health initiatives including mounting sporting events. As an athlete himself, Donny found it really cool to be the face of the brand as it aligns with his belief of staying fit and healthy through sports. There is no doubt that Donny’s prominence, skill, and overall charisma in the show business industry has garnered attention, including Sun Life’s, but getting him as an ambassador wasn’t just about riding on his popularity.
Sun Life is meticulous about choosing a brand ambassador as it ensures the person must be aligned with its advocacies, especially on financial literacy. And Donny has always been curious about financial matters. The man of the hour doesn’t assume–he asks. He takes things seriously.
“We’re excited to have Donny on board because we share the same advocacies,” said Sun Life Chief Client Experience and Marketing Officer Carla Gonzalez-Chong. “Moreover, he is both a credible and inspiring model for the youth. We look forward to working with him as we strive to help the Gen Z secure their future.”
To be a man of significant influence means to be responsible for everything he aligns himself with. “There’s pressure and responsibility, but you also have to be yourself. But of course, I have to be mindful of my actions as well. The most important thing is to be just genuine,” he said.
A journey to a healthier lifestyle
Donny also understands that the glitz and glamor of the industry comes with hard work, commitment, and even sacrifices.
“I always need a break. Hindi ko kaya mag-straight straight. Tinry ko na ‘yun dati kasi may lock-in, but I’ve seen it within myself that I get worn out, I get drained. So I don’t want it to get to the point where it’s too late. Whenever I have the chance to go outdoors, I really make an effort,” he said to MEGA Man.
For the rest of the morning, Donny shared his experiences and thoughts about sports, health, and finances. As an avid explorer of many things, he said that it began when he was young. “My parents always said that you’ll never know what you like unless you try it. So I always do random stuff, then my siblings would be like, why are you doing so much stuff? But at the same time, there’s so many things I like doing that I didn’t know before, so being health conscious just comes with that.”
This athlete who plays basketball, joins triathletes, surfs, and does a lot more other physical activities, greatly comprehends how health plays into sports. Health is wealth, as a lot of people would say. It’s never too early to be more health conscious as it can benefit you in the long run, especially when you’re older. The same principle applies to taking care of your finances now.
It is better to start early when it comes to saving and investing for the future, because later on it becomes a part of your lifestyle for a better tomorrow.
“The younger you start, the better it is. The more perks you’ll have, the more benefits, and the more opportunities to invest,” Donny agreed as he shared his thoughts with MEGA Man. “We’ll never know what’s gonna happen tomorrow.”
