As someone who seems to do it all so sprightly, Bela Padilla revels in the numerous creative roles she’s been up to. At the launch of her new collaboration as Dear Face’s brand ambassador in Manila House, BGC, the multifaceted Padilla shares why she advocates for women going after what they want.

“I feel like companies like Dear Face and with their bosses and CEO,I love that they are such go-getters. You know how successful you [want to] be, so you’re gonna do it. If you want to write a script, write it. If you want to direct a film, direct it. Everything is there for us to grab,” says the award-winning actress.

Echoing her cause, Dear Face CEO Jonah Sison-Ramos also shares why their skincare and collagen drink brand Beauty Milk chose the Filipina actress. “She’s the ideal Dear Face spokesperson. She’s doing everything all at the same time and is similar to our collagen drinks,” says the entrepreneur, adding how Padilla is relatable and is aligned to the beauty brand’s values. She continues, “It’s the perfect blend. Bela also values being healthy.”

On letting her work speak for itself

Despite being based in London, the actress still flies out to Manila (and other countries such as France for Cannes Film Festival) to film and promote her projects. Currently, the artist shares that she’s filming a series with actor JC Santos.

In her quest to show the world what she’s capable of, the well-rounded actress admits to the many challenges that come with each achievement, especially in a male-dominated industry.

“I think people see lang what’s already on screen. Off-camera, people don’t see the hours you spend researching, filming, writing and re-writing, doing pre-production meetings and everything else that leads up to the moment you can finally show what you’ve created. I think that’s what makes the journey sweeter,” relates Padilla.

The On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets actress shares that there were many days when she feels discouraged. “You’re given a seat at the table but they’re not actually listening. So I let my work speak for itself. I deliver results. And that takes time.”

As she takes on many challenges, people are also curious as to how she takes care of herself with such a hectic and demanding job. Padilla believes in only endorsing products that are in-line with her values, and when beauty brand Dear Face approached her, she was ecstatic to also find a collagen drink that packs flavor with skin and health benefits.

“You have to take care of yourself in order to take care of other people. At the end of the day, that’s the most basic thing,” shares the Meet Me in St. Gallen actor. She also relates how Filipinos love to take care of our families and friends and how sometimes we tend to forget ourselves. She continues, “You can’t pour from an empty cup. So you really have to take care of yourself.”
