In their new collection titled Mediterranea, there is a journey through multiple cities and distinguishable artistry that Bvlgari honored through their designs. It’s the intersection of heritage and luxury as the Italian house presents a line of pieces that captures the beautiful blend of cultures of the Mediterranean.
The historical attributes of the Byzantine and Roman culture, zestful spirits of North Africa, and the grand reputation of Southern Italian Baroque—these are the few characteristics that make up the designs, presented through four styles in the collection.
Southern radiance
Under this specific style are two necklaces named Mediterranean Muse and Southern Sapphire, which had evident dissimilarity in terms of design. Both finished with aquamarines, diamonds, and sapphires, yet the Mediterranean Muse had a structural motif, while the Southern Sapphire had more fluidity and movement. These were used to highlight the attributes of Southern Italy that paid tribute to the rich nature and grand architecture the region is known for.
Roman splendor
Compared to Southern Radiance, Roman Splendor welcomes the lavishness and magnificence of the Ancient Greek heritage. The three pieces placed in this category, which are called Acanthus Emerald, Roman Esedra, and Muse of Rome, are designed to honor the opulent history of Rome. Emeralds were placed with gold and silver to infuse the warm tones that most would reference in their history.
East meets west
This specific style captured a wide range of artistry from different continents, which is why it has a lively theme compared to the other pieces. Europe, Africa, and Asia intersect because of the Mediterranean Sea, and this explains the idea of the east and west connecting. Oriental Buds, Oriental Fantasy, and Tribute to Venice share a mosaic-like finish with bright gemstones to honor each culture’s lively spirits.
Serpenti
It’s not a complete Bvlgari collection without their signature Serpenti. The incorporation of the emblem signifies the Maison’s 75th anniversary and their constant search for virtuosity. For this collection, the Serpenti had two variations named Mediterranean Sapphire Serpenti and Baroque Serpenti. These two were designed with the intention of infusing the cultures of each country and the universal attitude of the collection.
Bvlgari proves that art and fashion can create a balance of heritage and modernity. To celebrate the high jewelry launch, Mediterranea—a presentation alongside a show was mounted in Bvlagari hotel, Bali Indonesia. Gracing the event were former Miss Universe Cartriona Gray, Thai actress Davika Hoorn, and Indonesian actresses Luna May and Putri Marino—all decked in the label’s Mediterranea collection.
