Being a socialite and influencer means having a calendar packed with social events. Mandy Romero shares how she stays healthy through it all in an interview with MEGA Active
It goes without saying that multi-hyphenate and MEGA Woman to Watch Mandy Romero has her plate full of work. Being a burgeoning influencer on top of it all means that her social calendar keeps her busy with few breathers in between. But as a former Philippine national athlete in Muay Thai, she’s got it well in hand. In an exclusive interview with MEGA Active, she shares exactly how.

Like many of us, Mandy begins her days with breakfast and caffeine—her preference being avocado toast and a matcha latte. But after breakfast and before formally starting her work, she diligently exercises with her personal trainer, Celes Alasco. Mandy would then use this allotted time to focus on muscle-building and toning. Meanwhile, she closes her long days with sports—Muay Thai training on the weekdays and polo on the weekends.
Staying disciplined in one’s workout routine, especially one so detailed as hers, tends to take some effort. But for Mandy, it’s part and parcel of being an athlete. “As a former Philippine national athlete for Muay Thai, fitness and health have always been central parts of my life,” she says. Because of that mindset, she views sports as something that has built her character and shaped her personality growing up.

Besides the fact that working out has become routine to her, she exercises regularly to this day because of the positive psychological effect it has on her. According to Mandy, a workout anchors her day and sets the tone for it. Additionally, setting aside time to be active is her way of taking care of herself mentally and emotionally, too.
Of course, with a week so packed with fitness, it’s important to support your body with nourishing food and drinks. For Mandy, the recovery drink she always reaches for is a vegan and plant-based protein shake. The cherry on top? Plant-based protein is also great for clear skin, according to her. She adds, “I love poké bowls for a filling protein fix. My favorite is Sushi Nori’s Salmon Aburi bowl. It’s the best.”

Amid beginning and ending her work-filled days with fitness, Mandy says she still tries her best to make time for family and friends. But at least, sometimes, friends and work collide. “Social events are one way for me to support my friends in the creative industry and to connect with new people,” she explains.
There’s another upside to a busy social season, according to Mandy. “During a busy social season, I love exploring different versions of myself through my fit, makeup, hair, and nails,” she shares. And with the glamorous look—designed by Axel Que—Mandy showed up in at this year’s MEGA Ball, it’s clear that her positive and disciplined mindset pulled through once again.
