And though many iterations have been made about the environment we grew in, creations inspired by such continues to display a captivating charm to it. This time around, we’re putting the spotlight on a new collection that has let life breathe into pieces—a symbol of revival through fashion.

Filipino designer Rosbert Villar is known for his eye for romance in design. He has created codes that have captured the attention of the local fashion industry and established an identity that is quite steadfast to his creativity. There is consistency that is seen through his use of delicate fabrics and meticulous yet seemingly simplistic techniques. On top of this, there is a sense of novelty that makes his designs feel pristine—the ideal balance of consistency with the contemporary.
In his recent capsule collection titled Art Meets Life, we feel a shift in his design that encapsulates his journey as a fashion designer. In a sense, it was able to imitate his perspective on his craft, but translated it into pieces that he considers an uncharted place in his adventure.
A vibrant spirit
Straying away from his usual choices of neutrals and monochromes, the designer decided to craft a color palette that he regards as unfamiliar. In the collection, the pieces embrace a vivid light that gives an impression of life bursting through the seams. His use of colors such as gold, orange, pink, and red symbolizes his decision to embrace the unexpected with a vibrant welcoming.
As for the construction of his designs, he was able to fashion a subtle casual tone to his signature silhouettes. One of the few pieces he included was the Silang top, which was introduced in his previous collection, but it had a few iterations as seen on the ruffled sleeves and the ruffled collar that gives a dainty finish. Meanwhile, his dresses were done in an understated manner because of its sleek fall that gives the spotlight to the chosen fabric.
Although it’s a special limited edition collection, we can see how graceful Rosbert welcomes the uncertain in his craft. It’s the process of facing the challenge of accepting its difficult endeavor that made him fabricate pieces that exude a feeling of awe in one glance. More so, it’s safe to say that the designer has embraced the true spirit of an artist and will continue to do so as he unfolds his journey in the world of fashion.
